There is no writing or speaking, only listening and reading. The questions/answers are in both English and your test language.
Study Materials
We do not offer practice material specific to the FLATS Exam, but here is some information that will help you to feel more confident when taking the test:
-
Watch or listen to news reports, podcasts, or YouTube videos from the country/language you will be tested on. The listening portions are vital parts of the exam, and they tend to be quick.
-
Be well-versed in the grammar and conversation found in 101, 102, and 201 level college courses.
-
The listening sections will not have any written questions. You will choose your answers from written multiple-choice options.
-
The reading and grammar sections will have written questions in English and the test language.
-
The test is composed of only multiple-choice questions and listening prompts; there are no writing or speaking sections.
Test Access
The test taker will not have direct access to the FLATS Test. An examinee can only access the test with their proctor, which is why it is vital that a proctor is selected during the registration process.
After you register for the test, our office will process your registration, and you will receive an email with your testing instructions. Those instructions will include your proctor's contact information. Once you have registered for the test and scheduled it, it is recommended that you contact your proctor with any questions about accessing it. All our proctors/institutions have different processes for setting up the test, which is why we recommend contacting them directly.
